Use this checklist before drafting, editing or publishing CJH content.
Before you start
- Search the site to check the content does not already exist.
- Identify the user need.
- Choose the correct page type.
- Check the source is reliable and current.
- Confirm who owns the content.
While writing
- Use British English.
- Use short sentences and plain language.
- Explain acronyms and legal terms.
- Use headings that describe the section.
- Use descriptive link text.
- Do not paste large blocks of unstructured text.
Before publishing
- Preview the page on mobile and desktop.
- Check headings follow a logical order.
- Check forms, links, downloads and tools work.
- Add related content and tools where useful.
- Set categories, tags and collection relationships.
- Ask a staff editor to review if the content is legal, sensitive or high risk.
When to ask for help
Ask a content designer or staff editor if the content affects legal rights, uses sensitive personal data, could be misunderstood as legal advice, or does not fit an existing page type.
