Case File Information

MG06 – Case File Information provides the prosecutor with relevant case background, sensitive matters, evidential and public interest issues, and target dates for further evidence. It supports effective case review and is not itself an unused material schedule or disclosure officer’s report.

Additional guidance

MG06 is a case file information form used to give the prosecutor relevant background information needed to review the case effectively. It may include sensitive information that should not be disclosed to the defence, together with evidential and public interest issues that may affect charging or case management.

It can record:

  • relevant case background and sensitive matters;
  • evidential issues requiring prosecutor review;
  • public interest considerations;
  • target dates for further evidence or enquiries; and
  • information relevant to charging decisions.

MG06 is not the same as the other MG06 disclosure forms:

  • MG06B records relevant misconduct, convictions, cautions or adverse judicial findings relating to an official witness;
  • MG06C is the schedule of relevant non sensitive unused material;
  • MG06D is the schedule of relevant sensitive unused material; and
  • MG06E is the disclosure officer’s report, including certification and material that may undermine the prosecution or assist the defence.

MG06 should contain only information needed by the prosecutor and must be handled securely. It is not itself an unused material schedule and is not the disclosure officer’s report.

The current public reference is the Home Office criminal casefile and MG-form guidance, read with the CPS Disclosure Manual.
