Hillside provides secure care in Neath, with education, health support and help to maintain important family relationships. The council describes an approach in which children help develop their own care plans and are supported to feel safe, heard and valued.
Care Inspectorate Wales oversees the care service, with Estyn contributing education inspection. CIW does not publish secure accommodation reports online; families and professionals can request the latest Hillside report directly. The historical education document below should not be treated as a current overall judgement.
Council information says approved visitors are welcomed and family/friend contact encouraged. Contact the home to agree visits and discuss access needs before travel; ask the home about current times.
An independent advocate helps you understand your rights, have your say and raise a complaint. Hillside works with TGP Cymru so every child can access an independent advocate. Ask for the Hillside advocacy service. Call 0808 1682599.
For concerns or complaints, contact Hillside's safeguarding officer, Sara Giles, at [email protected]. An independent advocate can help a child explain their concerns and what they would like to happen.
