Who we are

We are Conviction, the constituted nonprofit organisation that operates Criminal Justice Hub.

We look after information about people who use our website. The law calls this personal information.

How to contact us

Information we may have

We may have:

  • your name, username and email address
  • information about your website account
  • comments, likes and favourites you choose to make
  • the subjects or pages you ask us to email you about
  • messages, requests or complaints you send us
  • technical information needed to keep the website safe
  • website statistics, but optional statistics are used only if you agree to analytics cookies

Do not put private information about yourself or somebody else in a public comment.

Why we use the information

We use it to:

  • run your account
  • show your approved comments
  • remember your favourites and newsletter choices
  • answer questions and complaints
  • make the website safer and better
  • follow the law

Who may see it

Only people who need the information should see it. This can include approved Criminal Justice Hub people and trusted companies that run our website, email and security systems.

Everybody can see a public comment. We do not sell your information.

Sometimes the law says we must share information. We may also share it to protect somebody from serious harm.

How long we keep it

We do not keep personal information for longer than we need it. Different records need different time periods. For example:

  • we keep a newsletter record until you unsubscribe
  • we normally keep general emails for 3 years
  • we normally keep account information while the account is active and for up to 2 years afterwards
  • we normally keep security records for up to 1 year

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the information we have about you
  • correct information that is wrong
  • delete information in some situations
  • stop or limit some uses
  • stop newsletter emails
  • give you a copy in a useful format where the right applies

We may need to check who you are. We normally reply within one month.

If you are unhappy

Email [email protected] and write Data protection complaint.

We will say that we received your complaint within 30 days. We will look into it, keep you updated when needed and tell you the result without unnecessary delay.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. This is the independent organisation that protects information rights in the UK.
